Staff in marathon training

Staff from different departments in Bridgwater College are in training for the annual Bath Half Marathon on Sunday 7 March.

The group has been in training since Christmas for the 13.1 mile run in a bid to raise funds for chosen charities Help for Heroes, Make a Wish Foundation and Behcets Syndrome Society.

Spokesperson and Automotive lecturer Jerry Kitchker said "Some in the group are more experienced runners and some are novices who have only been running for a short time, so the half marathon is going to be a real challenge. We're hoping to raise £1650 to split between our charities - so if anyone reading is keen to support one of our causes, we'd love to hear from them!"

The ‘Bridgwater Bouncealongs' as they have called themselves have already secured £600 in sponsorship money from BOC, who has also provided the group with their running kits. The runners will be accompanied on their trip to Bath by Hayley Partridge, lecturer for the College's Sports Injury Massage course, and a group of sports injury massage students. Jerry added, "They have kindly offered to be there to warm us up before the race and soothe our sore muscles after!"
