National Apprenticeship Week: College celebrates 100% pass rate
Bridgwater College is celebrating a significant milestone for its pass rate for Apprenticeships in Agriculture, which for the first time ever has hit 100%. The news, which coincides with National Apprenticeship Week, is all the more remarkable because it also means the College has the highest performing agricultural apprenticeship programme of any training provider in the country.
The 24 students, who come from a wide area covering South Molton, Exmoor, the Somerset levels, South Somerset and North Bristol, attended an awards ceremony to collect their certificates and special prizes from John Alvis of Alvis Brothers at Redhill. John is also the High Sheriff of Somerset.
Head of Land-based Studies Jeremy Kerswell explains, "The students have all been following a programme which covers a wide range of agricultural topics whilst allowing them to specialise in either livestock/crop production or mixed farming, during which they have achieved either level 2 or level 3 qualifications. The outstanding pass rate is a real testament to the hard work of the students, the employers and the apprenticeship teaching team. We send our congratulations to all of them. I think it's fair to say that teaching and learning on Bridgwater College's agricultural programmes has benefitted significantly from the £1 million investment at our farm at Cannington. With 40 students enrolled on this year's agricultural apprenticeship programme, it is extremely encouraging to see numbers growing and local employers benefiting from this form of training."
