New fish management courses introduced at Bridgwater College
Bridgwater College's land-based studies centre at Cannington is set to introduce an exciting new subject to the curriculum - fish husbandry and management.
The Centre already delivers a diverse range of courses, including Animal Care, Vet Nursing, Equine Studies, Agriculture, Horticulture, Golf Management and Floristry to both school leavers and adults, and has a range of specialist resources to support these subjects.
Head of Land-based Studies Jeremy Kerswell explains, "The introduction of fishery management courses is really exciting as it fills a gap in the curriculum which no other local training providers are catering for. There are over 3 million anglers in the UK, which shows this industry is big business, so the course aims to provide students of all ages with a range of practical skills which could help progression into employment. There is a great range of facilities locally where students will be able to carry out a lot of the husbandry and fishery management practical work, so it's the perfect spot."
The public is invited to find out more about the course and a range of other land-based subjects at the Centre's next Open Morning on Saturday 30 January between 10am and 12.30pm. Entry is free. For details call 01278 441211
